Ok, President Obama wants to have gas prices investigated.
I volunteer to be on the panel.
Here in NJ, we have a few stations in about a square mile charging #4.09.
Less than a mile away the price is $3.65.
Same town, same road and a difference of over 40 cents per gallon.
The reason?
The stations are the first ones as you get off the interstate.
Gouge much?

Yep. You pay for convenience.
ReplyDeleteShort answer: Because they can.

ReplyDeleteYou are paying less for gasoline than we are. Here in southern California it's about $4.15 in the cheap places. (You never know when they're going to change the price. Hopefully they won't do it while you're pumping.)
ReplyDeleteThe Gas Prices aren't going up, the value of the US dollar is going down.
ReplyDeleteHey.. long time no see! Hope you are doing well. Gas prices where I live are $4.30 and climbing... Yikes.. soon I will need a new pair of tennis shoes, I am wearing mine out!
ReplyDeleteSomethings never change. Gas prices are down but I still drive to NJ to get cheaper gas. NYC is always at least $0.50 more per gallon. I track the fuel I use and the price I pay in our application. Some days the amount I pay for fuel a year is depressing.
