Update from Mrs. "C"

The old man is still in the hospital...and still hating it, especially since he can't get an on-line connection. They moved his room Wednesday morning one floor down to the old wing. This crisis is more frightening to me than the others have been. Maybe because he waited much too long to admit it was one.

Joe just found out he has a staph infection. The heart doc is trying to level out his blood pressure, which keeps spiking, so he cannot go to a sub-acute facility as was planned. He is currently scheduled for surgery some time today to have the shunt put in his arm for the dialysis.

Much thanks to everyone for their calls.

Your prayers and good thoughts are very much appreciated.

Thanks so much for updating us Mrs. C!

Your old man means a lot to us over the interweb waves! He makes us laugh.

I'm sorry he's not laughing right now! :(

Sending prayers and good wishes your way. And I especially hope YOU are doing well too. It can't be easy watching all of this go down.

Again, you and Da Old Man are in my thoughts and prayers.

  8. Nice to hear that there really is a Mrs. C!

Nothing but good wishes and happy thoughts(I watched too much Mr. Rogers when my son was little) from Maine sent your way.

One day, even one hour, at a time. You will both get through this.

  11. My F-I-L was a crotchety old man, he lived well into his 80's despite a myriad of health problems. He used to say he had a lot more nurse's bottoms to pinch before he checked out. Crotchety can be sustaining.

    You're both in my prayers.

  25. You both are in my thoughts and prayers. I lost my husband a week ago today, so I spent quite a bit of time in the hospitals over the last month. In one I had easy internet access; in the other I didn't. It made a big difference in my ability to stay in touch with family and friends from the hospital and to let them know what all was going on.
    Hope the surgery goes/went well.

  27. It might be a good idea to let us know if his hospital phone number has changed, or at least that the previous number is no good. That is, unless there are some people at the hospital that you-all want to get even with, of course.

  33. I just came over from Nanny Goats...

Is there anything you need, Mrs. C? From the wilds of redneck central in Georgia? A can of Skoal, maybe? Peach flavored white lightnin'? Perhaps just some well wishes, then, and what passes for prayer here in Casa de Crazy, and an offer of a shoulder and/or an ear should you suddenly be underwhelmed by the desire to unload on a complete stranger.

    Heal swiftly, Mr Crotchety, sir...

    Shade and Sweetwater,
    K

  36. I think you can see from all the comments how much crotchety means to all of us. Don't feel like you are left out of that either, we love hearing how you shovel the snow! Hang in there, I don't think God is quite ready for that old man just yet. We all need him for a while longer. You are the one I worry about, he at least has doctors and nurses looking out for him. You have to take care of yourself too don't forget. Hang tough Mrs. C!
