Going Down That Road Less Travelled...

Dictated @ 9:00 am:

The associate to the hematologist that okayed the operation came in at 2:30 pm yesterday and said he was not comfortable with the latest decision and I would again have to have blood products before he could give permission for my "tummy tuck." At 5:00 they started giving me the the blood products, 2 units, 1.5 hours each. Surgeon doesn't operate after 6 pm. At 7:30 nursie tells me that they are looking into Maggot Therapy instead of operating...near the GROIN area? Nuff said.

Oh Crotchety,
Ants in the pants are not comfortable -- I know. But maggots in your under shorts? . . .

An oxymoron if I've ever heard one...

Maggot

Therapy

You aren't at the Greater New Jersey Renaissance Faire Hospice, are you? Cause, um, it sort of sounds like it.

Next-- the leeches!

If its any comfort, they are in sort of a 'packet'...they can't get out and wander about the ship....and it DOES work.....

we're thinking of (and praying for) you often.....

Okay, I had to go look that up and it's for real. Looks like a viable plan to solve some wounds. I hope it works for you Crotchety. Miss you like the dickens.

Lots of prayers coming your way. :)

Yeah what Sandee said!

Maggot therapy...gah! Oh DOM!

{hugs}

Um, wait a minute, if you got maggots? Let's pass on the hug.

*smile*

Seriously, I'm so sorry and hope the Drs. can fix you up soon!

It doesn't sound pleasant. I do hope these doctors can get their act together so you can get on the road to recovery.

Okay so last week you didn't go for my suggestion of changing your blog to Crotchety Old Man Yells at Doctors. How about Maggoty Old Man Yells At Cars? Or Maggots in the Crotch Of Old Man Yells At Cars?

Hang in there, Joe. Still thinking of you.

Oddly enough, maggots have become pretty standard practice for some kinds of therapy.

Now when they start talking about fire ants, you may just want to get a second opinion.

Get better soon.

Sounds like maggots are the cheap option!
They are used world wide right enough, but I would watch them carefully if it were I!

I am evidently way too immature to appreciate the scientific applications of such a therapy. In other words, I am thinking along the same lines as Chuck.

WOW and wow again.

How can maggots and therapy be mentioned in the same procedure? What about leeches instead of blood products. I hear they're great for restoring the blood. Damn, good luck with that. Hell, I know you're up for anything as long as something gets done. Can't blame you for that.

Better maggots than lice. I think.

JHC Joe, enough is enough. Sounds like you are in some third world country with this medical care. Wait...you are HERE? In Maine?

ReformingGeek said...

That's enough, Joe. I'm ordering you a new body. We will feed your current one to the zombies.

ugh... I just threw up a little.. I HOPE it doesn't come to that.

I too thought "maggot therapy" had to be a joke on your part. I was sure you were pulling our legs, so to speak. So I too looked it up.

Holy crap! There really is such a thing. You're a braver man than I. I'd want to by put under before they put those things on me.

Whatever the procedure, get well! Soon!

I would imagine with all the high tech stuff in your room, the maggots would seem a little behind the times.
I just hope they can get you patched up and back to your couch soon my friend

Only you would have to go through something like this. Knowing the insurance companies, they have to pay each maggot like the doctors. Oh, isn't that one & the same? Boy, you sure do get the best blog fodder! Get well old man!

Maggots!
And you complained about the Jersey wildlife! ;-)
I just know there will be some good stories coming out of this one...lol.

Good luck, get better soon, COM!!!!!!!!

i just spoke to Joe's other half, they are transferring him to yet another hospitall they are evaluating him to see if he is a candidate for surgery. They just ask for positive vibes and prayers

Thanks for the update HR Diva and thanks to the sainted Mrs. C.!! Mrs. C., I can only imagine what you are going through. Joe's on the roller coaster and you have to stand there and watch. Hang in there. You are both in my prayers.

Joe. Joe joe joe joe. What are we going to do with you?!?! I swear, you would agree to the maggot thing just to get a good blog post out of it (shhh...don't tell anyone, but I would too. lol)

Also, you are stealing my thunder. I am having surgery to replace my shoulder joint in October. What you have going on is far more dramatic and serious, so I am getting jealous here.

Get well soon so I can have some attention!!!
