Now, for something completely different

Instead of my usual bitching this will be different. Yeah, it was a crappy day, so let's talk about something everybody likes--commercials.

Some of youse may know that on a cruise years ago, in a trivia contest about commercials I tied an advertising exec in knowledge of commercials. I won when I anwered a general trivia question. (What is lighter than air, yet can sink a ship? I'll give the answer tomorrow if no noe can guess correctly, but I'm positive one or more of you will.)

Anyway, three commercials truly make me smile every time they come on.

Garth Jr. rocks!!! What's not to like about a 10 year old Viking with a beard? Absolutely hilarious!!!

#2 How can anyone not crack up when they see Peggy from Discover commercials. Peggy is the greatest customer service person ever.

#3 The girl who sings Hyundai carols is so cute and sings like an angel. I get tired of every diva belting out tunes with such a boomig voice that they turn jingle bells into opera.

You miss a lot by not watching TV. I'm sure most are on youtube though, Sandee.

If I can remember, how to do surveys, soon, hopefully tomorrow there will be a survey here on the blog that I hope everyone will participate in. It's about some issue that is currently causing major strife in Casa Crotchety. As usual it is all my fault, alledgedly.

I must not watch enough TV. "Peggy" I got and you're right. Those commercials are hilarious. But I'm stumped on #1 and #3. My favourite commercial is when the hostess shows the wives her new walk-in clothes closet but their shrieks are drowned out by the howls of hubby showing his buds his walk-in refrigerator full of Heineken. I laugh every time.

Methane? That could sink a ship.

Commercials were about all that I enjoyed when we had television. Just about anyway. I don't miss not having television though. I'll go check out the commercials on YouTube just for you.

Oh there is conflict at the Crotchety Casa. I'll be over to vote tomorrow.

Have a terrific day. :)

I like the State Farm commercial where the man and woman are arguing and they wish for a hot-looking spouse. The argument doesn't get any better after they each see what the other thinks is "hot".

Can't miss Big Bang Theory. Can't miss House, although I wouldn't blame you if you didn't want to watch that one.

Last night, Hubby was watching the show about crazy ways people die.

It's get exciting around here sometimes!

oh my gosh. I thought I was the only person that thought they Hyundai commercial sang good. I'm even afraid to mention it to my husband for fear he will make fun of me.

Is a hole lighter than air? Because I know it could sink a ship.

I hate any commercial with people singing instead of talking. =P

I like "Peggy" too. She(?) reminds me of my high school gym teacher. My favorite is the Geico one with the little pig WHEE WHEE WHEEING all the way home. I hate the commercials that make me read. When I want to read, I'll take a book to the bathroom with me.

@ Nonamed: Probably because of Canuckian TV.

@ Sandee: Nope methane could sink my bathroom.

@ Reffie: Big Bang is one of my favorites.

@ Dazee: It's our secret

@ ba: yep, a hole

@ f8: cracks me up,too

I like that Geico one too...

Oh, and the Geico "Bird in the hand" makes me laugh every time. They are by far the best series of commercials running.

We don't get the Hyundai commercials here... hmmmmmmmm.

I applaud you DOM. Most people fail to appreciate the 30 second spot.

Oh, and I was going to guess Methane too. Methane bubbles coming up through water has been known to sink ships and is one of the theories for the Bermuda triangle.

My wife and I both absolutely crack up when we hear Garth, Jr.'s belated, "OW!," after Santa yanks on his beard to see if it is real, but neither one of us get the appeal of the couple on the Hyundai commercials. Of course, neither one of us are as full of "gas" as you obviously are. On second thought, your explosive evacuations would have to be heavier than air...

P.S.: What about the baby in the stroller on the HP printer ads?

I don't have TV at home, but I watch it at work (I'm a 911 dispatcher; there are slow times) and the Geico commercial with the woodchucks still makes me laugh. "Hey, you woodchucks! Quit chuckin' my wood!"

I must be watching too much netflix I don't recognize any of the commercials you mention.

BUT, I am sure that any problems going on in your house are your fault it's always the guys fault. (even when it isn't)

You make me want to watch TV commercials. Maybe they've gotten more clever since DVRs came along.

I will look up the Hyundai commercial. It sounds like it's entertaining.

Have a good Christmas Crotchety Old Man. May the nurse forget your needles on Christmas Day and may you get something really good to eat.

Putting their fun, quirky twist on a classic holiday song, Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn of Pomplamoose have created a :15 VideoSong version of "Jingle Bells" as part of their national debut in a holiday campaign for Hyundai. Highlighting Jack's brilliant musical arrangements and Nataly's infectious vocals, the video features the duo performing in and around several Hyundai models... in their garage studio (yep, just like all their popular YouTube VideoSongs, the video was shot in their home). Probably the coolest, most-fun version of the song you've heard in years, you'll be whistling Pomplamoose's version of "Jingle Bells" in no time.
