It's a Clusterf*ck

I can't think of another way to describe it.

The person in charge of discharge told me Horizon BCBS is discharging me Friday. Then she went on vacation. But Horizon BCBS is not ny primary insurance.

All I have to do is show my Medicare card and all is well.

I never got a Medicare card and a replacement takes 4 weeks.

The nurse for at home follow up care came in yesterday, did an evaluation of my current situation and said that going home now would be medically dangerous.

The dialysis center person who could help me is on vacation.

I called Medicare and they said call Social Security.

Social Security said Medicare should handle it.

SHIT!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but sometimes nothing else works.

DOM I sure hope you get this worked out. In the meantime here's something to take your mind off of it...A cardiac specialist died and at his funeral the coffin
was placed in front of a huge mock up of a heart made up of
flowers. When the pastor finished with the sermon and
eulogy, and after everyone said their good-byes, the heart
opened, the coffin rolled inside and the heart closed. Just then one of the mourners burst into laughter. The guy next to him asked: "Why are you laughing?" "I was thinking about my own funeral" the man replied. "What's so funny about that?" "I'm a gynecologist."

You see what happens when you depend on a GOVERNMENT program for your healthcare? As frustrating as insurance can sometimes be, government is a zillion times worse!

What a load of bullcrap. The canadian system means you die waiting for treatment, and the american system kills you when they send you home early.

Does anything work>

Oh, great. Now, add in the government to "fix" healthcare and see how it gets "better"! Ugh.

In a political sense, your current situation puts it all in perspective. For the Republicans generally want people like Horizon to handle our healthcare stuff, and the Democrats generally want it in the hands of governmental agencies like Medicare and the Social Security Administration. In other words, we are all screwed.

((((Joe)))) So sorry you're having to deal with all of this.
Isn't the main thing that you are there to get well?
And (logically) everyone should be working together to achieve that goal?
Seems so simple.........

See the government can handle our health care just fine. I say vote for universal health care. Then we can all experience a clusterf**k. Just saying.

I hope this gets resolved shortly Crotchety. :)

I know you feel my pain and I feel yours. Thankfully my issues with my provider aren't life threatening (to me at least...though to the baby...).

Just keep fighting and don't go quietly!!! It's always the greasy wheel (or the rich one, but greasy works too) that gets the attention.

Have you considered literally pissing on them? That might get you sent to a mental ward. It could be entertaining and, even if not, at least you won't be forced to experience premature discharge.

DOM! That is mighty scary!

This is all you need on top of everything else.

I'm so sorry that you are going through this unnecessary crap!

{hugs}

And a fist in the face of all the retards doing this to you!

Call the department of insurance for the state of NJ. It worked for me. Call your senator's office. They are there to help you with problems.

This also worked for me.

F*ck...helps...not f*cking...just yelling the word...

man, I hope it all works out soon for you!

Well, I am not surprised that when you need someone, they are all on vacation. Just keep calling & complaining & maybe someone will finally get the hint! IDIOTS!

As with everything else, the burden falls upon you, the consumer. In this case, the consumer of apparently non-service.

Hang in there and I hope things gets straightened out.

Perhaps my evil twin could fly up there and whip them into shape!

Un-freaking-believable. Stay strong and keep fighting the good fight, Joe.

Joe do this - call the rehab social worker in. have a lil talk and have her take care of ALL the details. that's their job, to work shit out.

you shouldn't be working anything out.

btw they can verify your medical coverage without a card, and infact set up all your appts, then advise you of them - in addition to ordering your durable equipment for delivery before your release.

do not leave the hospital without your durables being ordered and deliverd. make the old lady bring your o2 rack to the pick up to be sure that everything is fine to your satisfaction and needs.

also get a 02 concentrator to use instead of that regular tank tap.
the danger factor and the conservation means you get 4 hrs out of an e tank instead of 1 1/2.

Please call me if you need help - as you know I'm there for you and have experience in these things. ;)

try to get into a Davita center for your dialysis. they just seem more willing to work with you.

Please Relax and Feel better my crotchety old friend.

Wow- you can't breathe for all the red tape sticking to you on that one...

I don't even know what to say.

What a great system we have!

Just a note: I'm really sorry you're in this "perdicamint", and I really hope you are feeling better soon. (I don't know that Weight Watchers can help you with that 12 gallons of fluid - so don't buy in to their antics.) Anyway, I wanted to let you know that from someone who is mostly housebound due to wonderful health issues, your blog is a lifeline for me. I have no idea how you keep your sense of humor - or blog everyday. But thank God you do. You help me keep my (in)sanity!! xx

I'm so sorry to hear you're getting such a run around. I find that when I channel Anastasia (calm, pleasant, charm your socks off) I get a lot further when I'm getting the run around. KWK is her motto. And it really does work. (Even though I always want to rip their heads off because they make me so angry.)

I hope you can find someone to help you so that you don't get discharged prematurely. (Look...I said discharged and prematurely in the same sentence...yes, I'm like a 15 year old boy that way.)

Good luck tomorrow.

LL said...

But on the bright side... when they discharge you and you suffer from some catastrophic event... the crotchety old lady will have a helluva malpractice suit!

Call the senator and get his head out of the trough for a moment!
Tell him you need help and are composing letters for the papers mentioning his name!
Do it now!
And tell him to get a proper health service.

Oh my! Sheesh, COM, I'm sorry you're going through such a hassle.

Hang in there, get home soon and enjoy your couch again!
As far as the bureaucracy is concerned, someone should be at the rehab center to help you cut through the red tape......well, there should be, anyway.
Think of something creative to do with the green jello and I bet something will happen fast.

Thinking of you........
