Contest winner announced; Crotchety exposes himself

The staff at Crotchety Old Man World Wide Headquarters and Discount House of Worship wanted to thank everyone for the many great captions. In fact, they said this week was one of the best ever. Lots to cover, so I'll get right to it.

In the asbsolute closest contest in a while, first place votes were tallied by Eve, Ettarose, Swirl, MA Fat Woman, Speedcat, Free Unicorns, and Chris.

Whew!

Multiple points were also scored by Shadow, Krissi, Shaxx, Carrie, Kate, Brazen, Heather, and Jormen

"That's the last time I donate my cast offs to Goodwill in San Fran!"
Eve Cleveland

Second place went to the captioner who had no first place votes, but appeared on half the judges scorecards, Candid Carrie. MA Fat Woman scored the bronze zucchini.

No one guessed which 2 facts were false. For the record:

1. A few years ago, I passed a rather large kidney stone that, when viewed from the right angle, looked eerily like the profile of Rutherford B. Hayes. True, and I really need to find it.

2. I lost the 8th grade county spelling bee on a technicality. True, stupid rules.

3. I'm a certified teacher. Frightening, but true. Social Studies and Special ed.

4. I have been married 3 times. False, less.

5. I have been shown in cable TV audiences at least 4 times. True, Uncle Floyd twice, Cooking w.Christina, and some interview show with Steve Adabato hosting

6. I've posed for pictures and signed autographs as a professional wrestler for German tourists. Surprisingly True. That will be a whole blog post about my pro wrestling career.

7. When younger, I was in 4H and raised a champion bull. False. I grew up in a city in New Jersey, and with my history with wildlife--could you imagine the stories I would have had?

8. My first serious girlfriend couldn't say the word aluminum. True. No matter hot cute I thought she was, I just couldn't hang with some woman who used looneyum foil.

Have a nice weekend. Stop by tomorrow for some weekend wackiness, including some serious ignoring of Greenland.

Don't you really want to vote for me now, after I exposed myself to you?

I'll take a tie for first place over nothing anyday!

I love this game!!

Well, I was only off by one. I was pretty sure there was no bull in Jersey. Well, at least not a four-legged one. :)

Who says you can't find wildlife in Jersey?

Have you not been out to any of the bars out there??

PLENTY of wildlife, it just depends on whether you want to bother taming them or not..

Most just let things run their course!

I want new judges Crotchety. Seriously...your winners are funny but biases. My caption is at LEAST as good as the first prizers...! BIASED BIASED BIASED (as a chant)

And dang...I can't wait for that pro-wrestling post! :)

@ Swirl: You did get extra credit for first comment :)

@ Jenn: Believe it or not, New Brunswick has a huge agricultural farm with cows, pigs, horses, and sheep. At one time, a very famous cow even lived there. In the movie City Slickers, the calf Billy Crystal delivered was gifted to the farm in NB, NJ.

@ Jormen: Plenty of wildlife, it's just nature that bothers me.

@ Lauren: Talk to the judges.

@ Angie: As soon as I squeeze into my tights. On second thought, some things may be better left in the past. It was weird.

@ Heather: Considering how cute she was, I should have answered "Nothing."

@ Eve: Sounds good, and I'll wrap it in looneyum foil for you so it stays warm.

But, I did guess right on my second guess... and I quote "Oh, and it just HAS to be 4 and 7 that are untrue. :-P"... seriously, go back and check :-P

Congrats to the caption winner!

OoOoo... and don't the Brits pronounce it "aloom-in-ee-um"? 'Cause, technically, that's correct... at least, I think it is... when I type "aluminium" it is okay, but when I type "aluminum", it's underlined in red. According to Wikipedia, both are correct... in fact, the etymology section concerning the word is rather humorous:a British political-literary journal, objected to aluminum and proposed the name aluminium, "for so we shall take the liberty of writing the word, in preference to aluminum, which has a less classical sound."
Either way, I've never heard it pronounced "looneyum" and I would probably find that annoying too. :-P

@ Shadow: I didn't see your second guess. That would have been correct. The looneyum was annoying as could be. As you could guess, she wasn't the brightest.

@ Paul: Thanks

@ Plant: Yeah, I know. It's ok, though. And Dog and Dexter are a funny combination. They should do a show together.

I used to not be able to pronounce aluminum, linolium, or ambulance...have we met?

@Olga: Could be. You do seem to possess a couple of the qualities she had.
