Ok, the election is over. Plenty of people were unhappy with the results. Of course, it appears that no one voted for McCain because nearly every blogger I read sounds like they didn't. Must be the quietest 48% ever heard.
Anyway, it is time to move on.
I was really disturbed to read that in Warren NJ, some idiot tore down a home made Obama sign and burned it apparently in the shape of a cross. WTH is wrong with someone to do something like that? I can understand the anger associated with this election, but there still is no excuse for such behavior under any circumstances. It just reinforces the negative stereotypes that have been put forth in recent weeks.
We, as Americans, are better than this. We need to work together.
I found this classic post card online. It harkens back to a simpler time.

Thanks for that! I couldn't agree more on all counts.
I know how I voted and I have no issues with that. It's done... lets move on.
I agree totally with you. I for one did not vote for Obama but, come January, he will be my President and I will support him. I always make it a point to pray for the President, whether I voted for him or not.
Excellent post.
A lot of good people have been killed just to let a son of a bitch do something like that...pisses me off, but I guess that's what we do to be great.
slippery slope...
Hi...found your blog through Lady Banana.....
I had to stop reading one of my favorite blogs because of horrible name calling of Obama....at this point what do we have to lose but to try and make things work.
Right?
I agree. I voted for McCain and I'm glad I did. I did notice that the blogosphere was filled with pro-Obama. That's fine. If pro-McCain folks said anything we were either racist or ignorant. That's what I noticed. Probably why that 48% got so quiet.
One blogger that I have since disowned actually asked if a McCain supporter (blogging buddy of mine) had an education. Did you go to college. Do you have a degree. That sent me over the edge.
Have a great day. :)
@ Dad the Dude: Exactly
@ Tahtimbo: Just as we would have expected support if anyone else won
@ Lipstick: Thanks
@ Don: Yup. Even jerks have rights. Sucks sometimes.
@ Lauren: Uh huh.
@ Pawhealer: Welcome. I'll be back to posting silliness tomorrow. Stop by again. :)
@ Sandee: Wow. BTW, I supported McCain, and I have a BA in history. Graduated magna cum laude, even.
Amazing what transpired this past election.
You have a degree in history? Wow! Cool!
I wish I'd paid better attention in school when history was being taught. At the time it seemed so dull and impersonal, just spitting out dates and facts.
Not sure if it was the teacher's fault, or the textbook, or just the usual storm of adolescent troubles that interfered with keeping me interested.
These days I'm fascinated by programs about history.
So... what color underwear did Napoleon wear?
Was Bloody Mary a b-cup or a c-cup?
Why did the dinosaurs die?

.
I couldn't have said it better myself! There are so many ignorant douches out there!
I understand (and support) being vocally opposed to someone's policy, but attacking them as a person is unacceptable. Personally, I cringe when I think of the possibility of John McCain having become president, but, in a political sense only, and that gives me no right to make attacks against him or his supporters. Policy is another story, but even still, tact is important. Unfortunately, this will happen no matter who is president.
Great stuff, Crotchety!
Hey, we don't have to love Obama being in office, but we don't have to act like morons, either.
I'm a Republican and I can see that my party got what it deserved. It has no identity, no focus and I'd bet that half of the people out there calling themselves Republicans have no idea what a conservative actually is and believes (i.e., smaller government, low taxes and etc. -- it ain't all about abortion, kids).
@ Janna: Napolean went commando. The Dinosaurs died when the wax fruit factory cause massive defoliation. Didn't you watch TV in the 90's?
@ Kirsten: They totally exhibit that quality
@ Shadow: Dialog is always acceptable, but doing what they did is beyond reason and inexcusable.
@ The Hawg: They have lost focus. People have been calling Bush a conservative for 8 years. Holy cow, talk about a mistake.
Lots of Republicans down here. I'm kind of glad that I'm not working in an office right now. I would have been sick of the whining in a bout 5 minutes. Thanks for the All-American post!
@ Reforming: You're welcome.
Thanks! That was a great post. People are gross and turn really loopy around the election. It does appear that all the bloggers I associate with voted for Obama as well haha! Good!!! Let's give up a warm welcome to our new American President Barak Obama!!!
Amen. You are so right. People got all crazy-like with this election and forgot about what matters--ME!
Wait, no, what I meant was--OUR COUNTRY.
@ Rusty: TY
@ Petra: You're right. The most important issue is me. :)
I've noticed a lot of young people will say they are economically conservative and socially liberal. Hawg is right- it's not only the abortion thing that makes people vote Republican.
The more I learn about The Other Side via my Righty Tighty boyfriend- the more middle of the road I am than I thought! There are a lot of conservative issues I embraced for years without realizing it.
We need to communicate and respect as the comments seem to indicate. You've got a friendly bi-partisan lot over here old man :-)
@ Brazen: yes, I do. I also found many are like you, Conservative on some matters, liberal on others. That's why labels are usually inappropriate.
