Springsteen has been one to lecture everyone for years. There is something about celebrities. It seems they just can't help themselves, as they need to tell everyone what to do and how to live. One of Bruce's favorite topics has been worker's rights. He is quick to tell us how business needs to treat everyone better. Bruce likes to tell us how to vote, who to donate money to, and really, just about everything except how not to cheat on one's spouse. Hey, he's not perfect, just better than us.
Anyway, it seems ol' Bruce is releasing a greatest hits album (yes, another one) and it is a WalMart Exclusive. You know, the same WalMart with policies that the Boss always speaks out against. Suddenly, WalMart is okie dokie with him.
Oh wait, he apologized to his fans, so it is all good now. Of course he'll take the money, but he is going to feel slightly bad about it, I'm sure. But what I really enjoyed was Bruce trying to act as if he was "one of us" by performing at the Super Bowl half time show, throwing in a couple football terms into "Glory Days" and announcing that he was "Going to Disney Land." I wonder if anyone should tell the putz that the Super Bowl MVP doesn't say that. I don't think they ever have. They announce that they are going to Disney World. Yeah, he's one of us. If I hear about his background from the streets of New Jersey one more time, I'm probably going to throw up. That was 40 years ago. He lives in New Jersey still, but I'd be arrested just driving through his uber exclusive 'hood.
The next is Al Gore, Mr. Green Jeans himself. He just loves to tell everyone what to do about global warming and how we need to be more environmentally conscious. How close we are to the "tipping point."
Nice to know he just picked up a new custom made 100' long houseboat. It is environmentally friendly (supposedly) and uses less energy than other 100' long houseboats. The cost is estimated to be between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Telling us what to do has been very, very good for Al Gore.
Telling us what to do pays well
I'm just guessing that the boat is about 15' wide, which makes it around 1500 sq feet. Or about the size of a 3 bedroom home, which is the size of the home many of us probably lived in when we were kids.
I recently interviewed Shadow Crystal, who is one of my first blogger friends. Make sure you check it out.

I should not read a post like this right before bed! It has gotten mah blood boiling!
The way I see it, the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Al Gore can go jump in a lake and take a very deep breath.
I mean, what's next? Michael Phelps telling us not to do drugs?
You tell us Crotchety!
If he wants to change the world he needs to start a blog!
Mind you, that has yet to enable me to buy a raft let alone a houseboat!
You might do well to keep in mind that it hasn't been that long since Little Steven's day job ended before you go bad-mouthing Da Boss and his E Street Bandmates too much. For he has obviously recovered from his injuries, and he may bring Sil out of retirement on your...
Oprah/Al Gore...what's the difference?
Bruce? Makes me sick. Loved his music. Wish these 'celebrities' would just do their job and keep their mouths shut. Harrison Ford flying to France to present fugitive Roman Polanski with an Oscar wins the Putz of the Century Award in my book.
Celebrities, congress.. they are so out of touch. I have a feeling that i something isn't done soon, this nation will resort to an uprising and overthrow the government, because they have not been "for the people by the people" in a long time.
Ouch ouch ouch!! Oh Joe, I am wounded to the quick for Bruce. Sob sob.
But I still love you!!! :)
If you really want to take something on, go after those STUPID First Republic Bank commercials (one was on the radio while I read your post about Bruce; oh the injustice!).
If I hear one more time about how they "rushed back to the city to have their healthy baby boy" but he realized after TWO DAYS that he left his wallet back at the lah dee dah country house and needed his personal banker OMG my head will explode.
I'm almost certain that Al Gore is planning to take his new boat deep into the Pacific dead zone to recover all the plastic stuff that ends up there.
And, Executives at all major corporations will turn down their bonuses and salary increases for the good of the company and its worker bees.
And, Old Yellow didn't really die.
;-)
Never liked Bruce and have been to the Stone Poney. I'm tired of the hypocrits!
Is there anyone who has made it big with lots of influence that you actually like?
Bruce Springsteen is a communist.
"Business is business and everything else is conversation."
@ Paul: Plenty of celebrities left who enjoy lecturing us.
@ Quirkyloon: I don't lecture, just help point things out you may have missed.
@ Adullamite: He doesn't want to save the world, he just wants to tell us what to do.
@ FishHawk: Meh, that is just a character he plays on TV. I know people. Just sayin'
@ Deb: I dunno, they both make fortunes telling us what to do.
@ Dizz: The government has been out of touch for a while. Our economy has been held together by duct tape and bailing wire for years.
@ Marie: Business doesn't bug me. We know they are pond scum, they know they are pond scum, and they don't try to act as if they are anything but.
@ Reforming: Yeah, I'm sure that is what he'll do. As far as business turning down money...LMAO. Read my comments above about pond scum.
@ Lauren: Total
@ Anonymous: Definately. I like the guy who was on Celebrity Apprentice, Trace Adkins. I'm no fan of his (country style) music, but he seems to appreciate his fans, is respectful of America and her historic values. He is also a family man.
@ I hate: He just likes to tell us what to do, the type of government is irrelevant.
@ Kevin: True dat
I always despised both Gore and B.S. Ever since B.S. "created" his blue collar clown costume he's be totally full of, well...B.S. As for Gore, I can't say to which end I would love to see him go. It involves a funeral.
What you, Paul and Don said.
Have a terrific day. :)
He didn't even perform "Born in the USA" at the halftime show. Oh wait, in this new age of having not to offend anybody we're not allowed to be proud of our heritage. I'll take dancing and Miss Jackson's wardrobe malfunction over his nasty crotch anyday.
Glory Days...he's long past his glory days...go back to Jersey---sorry, Old Man.
I like Bruce. Just his music. Not his other rantings and stuff.
Just the MUSIC and isn't that what its all about anyway?
Today is free music tuesday on itunes. They always have crappy songs as the free songs but still this excites me. FREE!!!
Ok i veered way off topic!!! Sorry old man!!!
But you have some truths here in this post!!! Actually all truths!!!
HAPPY TUESDAY!!!!
Mighty nice houseboat there. I believe I could be happy on something like that. :)
I've just posted something on one of my blogs about the medical profession's take on the bailout.
Don't get all crotchety on my man Bruce. Always been a fan of the music, don't pay attention to the other shit. from any celebrities in fact.
Except you of course.
What do you mean use to live in? Our house is a double wide 3 bedroom with approximately 1600 ft.
Oh dear and I was a fan of Springsteen. but, I simply can't tolerate Wal Mart and it's policies. so he won't be making any profit off of me.
As for Gore even though I am one those Democrats.....I am not a Gore fan.
I could be if he would walk the talk he talks!!
OMG he really bout an effin bout ? God I can't stand these hypocritical f'ckrs..
@ Bruce has become a created character
@ Sandee: You have a great day, too
@ MA: Yeah, didn't want to offend anyone, so he chose his songs carefully. This was during the biggest game of the most American game.
@ Michelle: I like mostof hios music, too. But I don't need to hear his lectures.
@ Sherry: I read your post. It was spot on. And very funny. :)
@ Swirl: I'd have no problem if he would just sing, and then shut up. His politics make me ill. And he has proven the old adage of a narcisist that we should do as he says, not as he does.
@ Shinade: It isn't just a Democrat thing. Very few politicians walk the walk. It just seems Democrats seem to enjoy telling us what to do more than Republicans. The Repulicans at least pretend they are bothered by it.
@ Dani: Yeah, a nice little hundred foot long boat. You know, his ego wouldn't fit on a 50 footer.
I was over-Springsteened in my youth-- being a Jerseyan myself, he was played way too much on the radio.
I have also been out-Sinatraed.
I have a great deal of admiration and respect for Al Gore (I figure if you have to be a part of the rat race, you may as well be able to enjoy the perks allotted to those who reach 'the top' [of the steaming pile]), but I think Springsteen is a yapping hypocrite. I think anyone who tries to be so patriotic that you can envision their country's flag spewing out every time they open their mouth should be feared anyway... 'cause there's usually going to be a big gap between their ideals and their actions.
I can't stand Bruce Springsteen! You are so right! He's a pain in the ass. Thank you for saying it a little better.
Hey Crotchety...I am still not clear how your feel yet:)
Yes, I caught that Disney LAND/WORLD SNAFU. Oh Bruce! He looked awfully greasy but at least he didn't lip sync and thank God he did not have a wardrobe malfunction. For dudes, that involves one's rock bulge deflating and exposing a little pencil.
Al Gore was more likeable when he had a brawny beard. I'll stop here.
This is why I am a Republican.
Yeah, the wal-mart bit was prit-ty bad, Bruce.
Very well said Crotchety. Springsteen shouldn't subject concert goers (who pay way too much anyway for his tickets) to his wacky brand of politics. Please, please, please just shut the hell up and sing. Oh, wait, I don't like his singing either, so just shut the hell up!
As for Big Al, what's he gonna do now that the earth is entering into another long-term cooling phase. His global warming rhetoric just lost all its pizazz!
Celebrities are douchebags.
@ Jenn: How could anyone possibly get Sinatraed out?
@ Shadow: Yup, I distrust him.
@ Kirsten: True dat
@ Alicia: LOL
@ Self D: He tries so hard to pretend he's one of us.
@ Jen: I'm becoming an anarchist.
@ Ann: He was very apologetic--once the fans ciomplained.
@ Matt: He will buy a snowmobile, and park it outside a huge ski lodge.
@ Mike: Pretty much. We need a word for them. Celebritard is just not quitre it.
I can't believe you claim to be from New Jersey after this post. ;)
Actually, have friends who live in Red Bank and shock of shocks, Bruce does hang out with the regular people-- whatever you want to say about him and his politics (which, I, for one, happen to agree with, especially when he was on the Vote for Change tour).
So that's why Springsteen has that 'greasy mechanic' look, he's pretending to be one of the little guys! I assumed he had an aversion to bathing.
