What a Coincidence!

Yesterday, in the Humorbloggers dot com chat room, we were speaking about coincidences. You know, small world stuff, crap happens for a reason, yadda yadda yadda.

Anyway, it got me to thinking about some of the weird coincidences in my life.

I met the Crotchety Old Lady and it turned out that her father and my mother had worked for the same company, at the same time, many years ago. Considering that it was not the biggest employer in the county, plus many other factors like they lived very far from each other, really makes that a pretty unusual coincidence.

And then, would you believe that my ex wife and her ex husband grew up about a block away from each other? Again, pretty weird considering it's not like we all lived in small town America. We aren't even from the same town, nor from the town our exes were from. The last bit of weirdness is that I have lived in 2 different places in my adult life. Both times I wound up moving next door to cousins who I hadn't seen in many, many years. I didn't even know they were my cousins at first.

Yeah, we weren't a particularly close family.

What strange coincidences have taken place in your life?

BTW, if you have a chance, here is a video on Youtube of my friend's Mom's appearance on local TV. If you have a chance to watch and leave a message, you can help make an older lady happy. Her story is fascinating, yet sad.

Sad story but we must keep the faith that one day she will see her little brother once again. I will pray for her.

That story was heart-breaking. I'm sorry for your friend's mom. I'd think in the Internet age, her chances of finding her brother are better now than ever before. Let's hope.

I have no coincidences I can think of. I think you have enough for all of us. Wow.

One of my friends in high school and I found out we were second cousins. We both were talking about how this great aunt of ours had died and we had to go to a funeral.

Turns out, it was the same Great Aunt Clara.

We knew our families were both Swedish... We just didn't know it was an extension of the same family.

We laughed about that for the rest of the school year.

I will have to check out the Youtube video.

My neighbor in this small town grew up two blocks from me in NYC.

A guy I was dating ended up as the roommate of my cousin.

While on a picnic near Stockhlom, we met a Swedish couple who were close friends with people we knew here.

I don't believe in "coincidences"....:-)

Mrs Nurman's story is heart wrenching and inspirational.
I hope she and her family can find connections with their past.

Hubby's Sunday School teacher when he was six turned out to be my uncle. Fort Worth is not short on Baptist churches so it was somewhat surprising.

I mentioned you and included a link to one of your posts at my site today. I was in a crotchety mood. :)

It's a small world for sure. Nothing surprises me anymore.

I loved the video. What a horrible time in history.

Have a terrific day Crotchety. :)

It's kind of funny how those things happen and things work out. I was married to my ex for 14 years and still to this day I can't figure out why! Strange.

It is truly a heartrending story. I hope she finds her brother...
Horrific what man can do to man, isn't it?

Glad I am a goat....

I visited a friend in Sydney, Australia, who used to live on my street in England (I lived at no. 154, he had lived at 146).

We were sat at a downtown Sydney bar catching up on gossip. Then the guy who lived at no. 128 walked in.

@ Theresa: Thank you. I'll pass that along to her son. She'll appreciate it.

@ Kathy: We can hope.

@ Jenn: Almost how I found out I was living next to my cousin. The Spawn was hanging out with kid (turned out to be her second or third cousin--I mess up on those kind of things) and was in the house looking at pictures. She wanted to know why there was a picture of Spawn's Aunt Kay with their family photos.

@ Shyne: But some things are just so weird, aren't they?

@ Reforming: Small world.

@ Sherry: I always am in a crotchety mood.

@ Sandee: True. Man's inhumanity to man seems boundless. Have a nice day.

@ Don: I was married for 13. Can't believe I made it a week.

@ Pricilla: True. Goats have it all figured out.

@ Tiggy: That is weird.

Yeah it's kinda weird about that stuff, it's like that 6 degrees game, I found out I am only 4 degrees from Obama, not sure if that's good or not lol

When I was married, we were moving from NJ back to PA. We discovered the pastor of our new church was the priest who performed our wedding ceremony 40 miles away at my parents' church. Our wedding reception took place on Rose Valley Road in the town of Media. The house we bought is on Rose Valley Road in another town in PA. There was a 3rd coincidence but I have since forgotten it.

When His Majesty and I first started dating..I found out that my Grandma used to take care of his Mom. They lived in the same building and his Mom had diabetes so Grandma always checked on her twice a day and made sure she had everything she needed. :)

Sad story, made me cry. I pray she will get to see her brother one day if not at least find out what happened to him...
