Has PETA gone too far?

By now, I'm sure everyone has heard that PETA is trying to change the name of fish to "sea kittens" so kids won't eat fish. I wish I could make up stuff this funny.

So, now, I wonder what land kittens taste like.

Oh wait, never mind. I'm pretty sure I already know.

Photobucket

But with Valentine's Day coming, I have started to worry about the living beings among us who have no voice, the flowers. Roses, for example are brutally sliced off the Mother plant, and the lucky ones are stuck in a vase, gasping for nutrition, until they finally die slowly, a petal at a time dropping off. I'm going to need a minute here......

Thanks.

We must care about the petal endowed. Does not a petunia scream when it is cut down in the prime of it's life? Have you ever seen a tulip as it's lifeblood seeps out?

I have, and it's not pleasant I tell you.

Stop murdering mums, bludgeoning begonias, and ravaging roses. Flowers deserve the chance to live out their lives in peace and harmony. You just can't spell petal without PETA. They need to get on this ASAP.

Flora kittens need love, too.

*sniff* I'll never buy roses for my girlfriend again...

But then again... I guess I never have.

I found this most recent announcement from PETA more annoying then most, as I don't recall any scantily clad women being involved.

I think PETA's lost its focus by putting more emphasis on the animals and less on the nude babes.

I would say I've lost all respect for them, but that would've required there to have been some respect to start with.

But what about the chrysanemumns or hydrianias? Who cares! If I can't spell them, I guess they don't matter. To Loon Funny!

PETA folks are nuts. Just saying. Pass me the sea kittens.

Have a terrific weekend. :)

I am a vegetarian and although I don't preach 'cause I don't like to tick people off, I think it's ridiculous and primitive to continue to eat meat and fish when we've, supposedly, evolved - plenty of research shows humans don't NEED to eat meat and in fact are contributing to the problem of world hunger since all these grains we could be eating are used on factory-farmed cows and whatnot. If you want to eat an animal, fine, but you should have to hunt and kill the animal yourself. I figure as long as we can use stupid politically correct terms like "people of colour", "gifted", "disabled", etc... there's nothing wrong with "sea kittens".

If you haven't guessed, I'm a big supporter of PETA. ;-P

Just think of all the people food that could be grown on all those acres devoted to the murder of defenseless flowers!!

Buwahahahahahaha!!! Flora kittens!!!!

I am ashamed to say I have killed far more than my fair share.

Oh, wait, that's not just flowers. I kill houseplants too.

@ LL: I'm sure she would understand

@ Jinksy: PETA has gotten very crazy. The animals are secondary

@ Michelle: No flowers for the Crotchety Old Lady. She is more a jewelry type. Please feel better.

@ MA: If we can't spell it, heck with them. LOL

@ Sandee: Sea kittens with extra tartar sauce

@ Shadow: The problem I have is trying to make kids feel guilty. I agree with the use of protein, and we would probably be better off if all went vegetarian.

@ Melanie: Turn those killing fields into amber fields of grain.

@ Maureen: We have silk plants for just that reason.

PETA is a joke. Sea kittens or fish...I love them both. Umm didn't Jesus eat fish too?

Ironically I was talking to some friends who happen to be vegetarian about the idea that vegetables may have feelings too - they didn't like that one at all ;)

And we all know that the PETA crowd sees gas-passing to be a Badge of Honour--the louder and smellier, the better.

I despise anything and everything PETA or related. Hence, they are on my "hit" list of things to do. Er, I mean support of course.

Yeah, upon further though, it is pretty messed trying to make children feel guilty.

What about chocolate kittens? Surely the cocoa bean is a living thing too? A

And if they do save the flowers and beans and all the living organisms what are we supposed to eat? Will we only be allowed to eat things like twinkies? God knows there is nothing organic in them, all man made materials those Twinkies.

I do like the name of the restuarant. It tells a lot about the owner. It's too bad they both aren't hung low. It's probably a bit uncomfortable.

Wait you mean this whole time I've been eatin kitties ?

My wife, an ex-member of PETA summed up my own thoughts best: "They're losing their grip on reality, aren't they?"

Well, except I'm never sure they had their grip on reality.

Simply pure gold!!

Spent a good few minutes laughing at this, well written and the photo was an excellent choice providing more humour.

Or how about cat-tails? Where do those fall? I really had a lot of those in Montana back when I was young and I'm sure they're missing something also here... ;)

@ Alicia: Yes, he did. And some of the Apostles were fishermen.

@ Paul: A few years ago, I saw a TV show where the guy was eating a sandwich, and it screamed the whole time.

@ Exaggerator: I would be a hero to them

@ Don: True dat

@ Shadow: Yup. It's fine to try to convince adults, but kids--it's just wrong

@ Jen: Glad you liked the name. I made it up.
:)

@ Dani: Yup. Tastes like chicken, too.

@ Unfinished: I'm sure, in the past, they have done some good. But lately--oy

@ Andrew: Thanks

@ RaBt: Hmm. Need to give that some thought.

You are the champion of all causes Old Man. I heard the scream of tulip bulbs from their graves.

It's funny you mention it though, I'm having boiled kittens for dinner with a side of fried puppies.

Since I am ONE with the flowers, I feel intense pain this time of the year.
