Two for Tuesday

I'm going to really get a lot of mileage out of the "Two fer" concept.

First, the blog received 2 awards.

One is from the Goddess at http://www.overfortyandlovingit.com/ (which is a personal blog)

Photobucket

and the second is from http://www.castocreationsjewelry.blogspot.com/ (which is a place to find nice hand- crafted jewelry)

Photobucket
I don't usually pass them along for a couple reasons. First, I usually pass them along to Jenn, and she complained about the upkeep. You know, virtual dusting. Liberal applications of Glass Wax, stuff like that. Second, they come with so many rules, I will most likely screw them up. Rather than do that, and put a burden on the recipient, I'm just going to give an award, stringless as it were, and show some of my readers some of the great blogs I read.

I'd like to pass along one award to Charmaine at www.charmaine-greymatters.blogspot.com/
Charmaine describes her misadventures as a woman in her 40's in the dating world. She is hilarious. When she takes a "dating break" she posts some awesome recipes, along with a story. In her most recent post, she talked about veal. I haven't eaten veal since sometime in the 1980's, and after reading her post, I'm still not eating veal, but she makes a compelling argument for some veal dish this weekend. I'd like to bestow the Kreativ Blogger Award on her.

The next blog I'd like to highlight, and give the Blog Love award to Laura from www.junkfoodaholic.com/
and her husband Paul from http://www.paulshealthblog.com/

Talk about really pushing the Two fer concept. This husband and wife team write seperate health blogs and are both a good read. I hope you enjoy all the blogs I highlighted today.

I'm going to be busy scouring the interwebs searching for an extra special picture to caption this week.

Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid It will be interesting.

And now, for something completely different

Instead of two for Tuesday, I'll participate in a meme I have received. And, I'll make it a little different, just to see if youse have been paying attention. A couple of my favorite bloggers have done this lately, and the results have been fun.

First, the meme

8 things about me is from Chunks of Reality. This is a pretty interesting blog, and her 8 facts were astounding.

http://chunksofreality.blogspot.com/

What I am going to do is give some facts, and you can guess which are correct. The prize, of course, is the adulation of the blogosphere.

1. A few years ago, I passed a rather large kidney stone that, when viewed from the right angle, looked eerily like the profile of Rutherford B. Hayes.
Photobucket

19th President of the US or my kidney stone?

2. I lost the 8th grade county spelling bee on a technicality.

3. I'm a certified teacher.

4. I have been married 3 times.

5. I have been shown in cable TV audiences at least 4 times.

6. I've posed for pictures and signed autographs as a professional wrestler for German tourists.

7. When younger, I was in 4H and raised a champion bull.

8. My first serious girlfriend couldn't say the word aluminum.

Of those 8 facts, only 6 are true. Can you guess which ones?

I'm going to tag Eve from http://www.thatsfunnybecause.blogspot.com/

She is a lady of mystery, so it would be wonderful to find out 8 things about her. Of course, she is under no obligation to tag anyone, but can tag up to 8 others.

Anyone else wishing to participate, just let me know.

Graham from http://adullamite.blogspot.com/

Presented the blog with the following award:
Photobucket

There were no strings attached, and I'm grateful as stringy awards can be annoying. I appreciate the recognition from my blogger friends. Thanks. Also, I'm not exactly sure what it says as it's in Spanish and according to my high school Spanish, my blog approximates a blog. Must be one of those idiomatic things, either that or I was absent that day.

Lastly, the ebay situation is resolved, now, I can devote my energy to Quizno reparations.

And I can devote even more time to ignoring Greenland.

THIS JUST IN: I was interviewed by Doc Nicole. It's health related, and me, being the world's unhealthiest blogger, you may want to read it.

Two for Tuesday plus

I like to highlight some of the blogs that I really like on Tuesdays. Well, I like them every day, but ya know what I mean. I try to select blogs that are new to me, or at least ones that I've only been following for a short time.

One of these is Debbie Does Drivel http://debbiedoesdrivel.blogspot.com/

Her description from the blog itself: Warped world requires a warped blog. End of story.

That pretty much sums it up. She is a member of the Humorbloggers.com World Wide Cartel, and is very funny. Give her blog a look, and I think you'll enjoy it.

The second one is written by a regular visitor here, The Hawg http://naturalhawg.blogspot.com/

Trying to describe his blog is like nailing jell-o to a tree. Just off the top of my head, some of my favorite posts from him were about cats, dogs, the Waffle House, Jeff Foxworthy, politics, football, music, kids, humor, lawyers and that's just a start. The guy is brilliant and funny. He used to be a lawyer, but don't hold that against him. And he is one of the leaders of the All Arkie Army. He was good enough to allow me to join even though I reside in NJ, and the only connection I have to Arkansas is I read his blog and some of those from other Arkie Army regulars. He's that kind of inclusive and welcoming guy. I think you'll enjoy his blog as much as I do.

Also, the blog received a few more awards and honors this week.

Tahtimbo (one of my daily reads as he covers health, recipes, humor, and so much more) at http://mrmomsunite.blogspot.com/

shared the

Photobucket

Uber (synonym to Super) Amazing Blog Award is a blog award given to sites who:
~ inspires you
~ makes you smile and laugh
~ or maybe gives amazing information
~ a great read
~ has an amazing design
~ and any other reasons you can think of that makes them uber amazing!

and I was tagged by Hammy at the Blah Blahs and the Yada Yadas http://www.hamishjoy.com/
He is a humorblogger that I think you'll like, too.

And Angie, Queen of Snarky at http://www.cupofsnarky.com/ also tagged me. You already know how hilarious she is, but should probably stop by and see her list of 7 things. Photobucket

I have to list 7 fascinating things about myself, and frankly, I've made so many lists in the last few months, that nothing is fascinating about me, and I'd put everyone to sleep that isn't already.

According to my calculations, I have to tag or award somewhere in the neighborhood of, oh, I don't know, everybody on the internet.

I truly appreciate the acknowledgement, and I hope my award givers and taggers understand that I love getting them, but have trouble passing them out.

Youse already know all my favorite blogs are listed at the side, and I even have about 20 more that I visit every day because I really like them.

It looks like I gave you 4 blogs this week. That's fine, because you can't go wrong with any of them.

And don't forget--------
You still have time to vote for your old pal Crotchety at:

It was soooo close, and the winner is

The staff at Crotchety Old Man International World Wide Headquarters and Discount House of Worship really had their work cut out for them this week. So many great captions, and for the first time in the last few weeks it was unbelievably close. I like that, it makes the staff work harder and there are few things I like more than watching others work hard. First place votes were received by Carrie, JD, Lauren, Fly, Rubba, and Dad the Dude.

Paul, Matt, Kate, Panda, Eve, and Sensei also scored multiple points.

But the winner was a newcomer to our contest "Candid Carrie"
Photobucket

Does this gun make my ass look fat?

She wins the prestigious Zucchini Award, and 1000 entrecard credits.

Photobucket

Second place went to Dad the Dude, and third place was JD. Second and third was unbelievably close, and Lauren was just behind them. Congratulations to the winners.

And speaking of recognition, this blog was awarded the
Photobucket

by Patricia at Subjective Soup. http://subjectivesoup.blogspot.com/

By now, everyone knows I never follow the rules for these things. But I always like to get them and use them to recognize some of the many bloggers I read faithfuly. And I always give the awards with no expectations. The awardee is welcome to use it to recognize up to 8,749 other blogs, but usually most choose no more than 5.

I'd like to pick Plain Ole Mike. This blogger can tell a story with humor. http://plainolemike.blogspot.com/

Secondly (lastly,) I'd like to award it to the Jannaverse. http://jannaverse.blogspot.com/

This blogger consistently cracks me up. Her sense of humor? Offbeat is probably the best description. I think youse will like it.

And let me close this fabulous awards ceremony with a song an appeal for your vote to make me humorblogger of the year. Just click on the link below, look for my name (Crotchety Old Man) and give a quick click. No salesman will call. Nothing further, no obligation. Nothing to buy. You're done. That's it. Shamwow. Easy as pie. And it helps stop global warming. Or global cooling.

Saturday Wrap up

So, I'm watching Gone Country 2, which is one of my favorite shows. One of the stars is an ex-Idol singer who understands that she sometimes slurs her words when singing.
She even said she has been told before that she doesn't pronunciate her words. Photobucket

And if you aren't sure if she is a bimbo or not, as part of the show, the players had to hunt. She pulled her shirt down, and announced this is how she gets her meat.
Yeah, she has all the style and class of a moderately priced call girl.

My buddy the Natural State Hawg http://naturalhawg.blogspot.com/ presented me with the award during the week. Photobucket

I do like getting awards, I just don't like following the rules with all the backlinks.

I would like to pass this fine award on to 3 of my favorite brainy bloggers, though I could easily name 10 or more.

First, Jenn from http://cabbages-n-kings.blogspot.com/ She writes professionally, and her blog, to me, is in a style reminiscent of Jean Shepherd.

Next is Lauren from http://canubapartofmylife.blogspot.com/ While it certainly didn't start out that way, her blog is very political right now.

And my third choice is the Brazen Teacher from the blog http://www.thisbrazenteacher.blogspot.com/ She delivers lessons for life.

I easily could have picked so many others because I only read great blogs, but youse know I'm lazy. As usual, I don't expect anything in return. I just like to recognize some of the blogs that I so thoroughly enjoy.

Also, I have a few more blogs I'd like to add to my blogroll, which is already huge. If anyone has an idea, please let me know.

Check back tomorrow. I'll have 3 of Rubba's best movies. He's not just the world's greatest photoshopper, he's also a very talented cinematographer.

And don't forget Deb, who needs some new readers added to her blogroll.

The Least Boring Awards Post Ever

You know how awards posts are so boring? Yeah, me too. But the reason for them, at least in my mind, is to thank my peers who accepted bribes thought enough of my often
pathetic attempts at whatever the hell it is I'm trying to do here. Plus, I'll introduce some of the members of the oft mentioned staff of Crotchety Old Man World Wide Headquarters and Discount House of Worship.
First, the awards:

Photobucket

Blogging Friends Forever

was awarded to me by lauren of Can You be a part of my Life http://canubapartofmylife.blogspot.com/
Always interesting, and well thought out opinions. A good read.

This award comes with a lot of responsibility. Just the name of the award is suggesting whoever gets it will be my blogging buddy forever. So, if I get drunk, and the Crotchety Old Lady throws me out into the night, shouldn't the recipient be obligated to put me up for a couple days? I would think so. And, if I need to borrow $100 in a few months, my BFF would probably feel an obligation to drop the money in the mail.

But upon further reflection, that would be just too much to ask. So, I would like to, in advance, relieve those presented of any further responsibility. Just take the award in the spirit given, smile for the camera, and go on living la vida loca.

My first choice is my blogging buddy Jenn from of Cabbages and Kings. She has helped me enormously with my blog, and I am in her debt. http://cabbages-n-kings.blogspot.com/

Next is my blogging buddy Claire from A Little Piece of Me http://crpitt.blogspot.com/
She is right there when I have a technical problem. Generally, she laughs at me, but does help me eventually.

Drowsey Monkey http://drowseymonkey.blogspot.com/ also gets an award because she is very helpful when I run into technical problems. As you can tell, I run into a lot of technical problems. She laughs at my problems, but I'm sure it's a language thing. You know how those Canadians are with all those extra "U"s floating around.

Lastly, I'd like to give this award to That Tears It http://thefourthring.blogspot.com/

Lately, he has noted a dearth of things feminine in his life, so I thought I should give him this, the girliest of all awards. Plus, when he stops by, he can take a peak at some of the best blogs written by women. (his co-winners)
I'd hate to see him hanging curtains and putting doilies everywhere. Plus I'm not exactly sure what a doily is. Mrs. Crotchety says she likes them, so I'm sure they have to be bad to have around.

The next award

Photobucket

KickAss blogger

was from Flower Girl at The Garden of the Flower Girl http://www.gardenoftheflowergirl.blogspot.com/

I'm going to award this to Chelle, the Offended Blogger at http://www.offendedblogger.com/
I really need to suck up to her, because she's in charge of the humorbloggers site, and I'm barely qualified. She is taking 50 bloggers, and I'm positive if she drops to 49, I'm so gone.

Ryan, from the Downloadable Ryan Garns www.ryangarns.com/
gave me

Photobucket

www.amyoops.com

I'd like to award this to Don from It's a Funny Thing
http://humorium.blogspot.com/

He's running for President, and could use the support.

And the last award is the Arte y Pico
Photobucket

from Bridget the Get Smart Gal at http://www.thegetsmartblog.com/
Her specialities include: Finance, Marketing, Business Buidling, & Telling People What To Do.

I'd like to award this to The Fly at After Dinner Mint. http://thefly4176.blogspot.com/

He is witty and creative.

Now, you rules stickler types may have noticed I have not followed them exactly. I realize this. But I also realize that eventually every blog will be linked to Kevin Bacon or something like that unless we limit things. So, rather than join the Arte Y Pico Must Die movement, I've just decided to limit everything.

You are welcome.

Winners may share with up to 5 others.

Lastly, as promised, I'd like to introduce you to the staff.
There's Rubba, he heads up our photoshopping department
We have the two Donnas. They form the powerful Donna voting bloc when judging the "Caption This" series.
Bchbear is in charge of judging. He likes to play Paula when we judge.
Nicole, who is vice president of operations.
Michiganderlady runs the mail room.
Arti helps in the photoshopping department.
Tammy, head of security, canine division.
And Mrs. Crotchety, catering.

It takes a lot of people to keep a blog going.

The Skanky Leg Update and Awards

Mrs. Crotchety got out the camera, and took a beautiful shot of my leg in all its ooey, gooey splendor. I put in a link so it doesn't hit anyone unexpectedly.

http://diabetesdestroys.blogspot.com/2008/08/leg-wound-update.html

It was worse the other day, but unfortunately, she didn't snap the photo.

The blog did win a couple awards this week, and I am very appreciative.

First, from Skye at Ramblings of a Writer http://www.skyewolfwrittenworks.com/

Photobucket

Skye's blog is well-crafted, and a good read.

Next comes from a blog I discovered recently: Ethan from The Natural State Hawg http://naturalhawg.blogspot.com/
The blog is witty, and the man has a gift for naming cats. The blog is loaded with lessons that should be common sense, but seem lacking in too many folks today.

From him I got the
Photobucket

Now, everyone knows these awards come with all kinds of stipulations, and have so many numbers attached to them, I get confused. And everyone also knows I have stopped passing them out fully because I have received a lot lately. No offense intended, as I do a "Reader's Digest" abbreviated version. So, what I do like to do is use this as an opportunity to showcase some blogs that I have been enjoying lately.
I do read every blog on my blogroll nearly every day, so they already have the Crotchety Seal of Approval. That and 5 bucks will get you a nice coffee at Starbucks. But I will guarantee every one is a good read, or I will refund every penny you paid for my advice.

Now, without further ado, here are some of the blogs I've been reading, and, with no obligation on their part, I'd like to present them with whichever award makes them happier. They all deserve both.

Don at Beyond Left Field http://beyondleftfield.blogspot.com/ Great satire.

Lauren at Can You Be a Part of My Life http://canubapartofmylife.blogspot.com/ She's smart, she's funny, she's beautiful. The big debate is whether or not she looks like Jenna Fischer from The Office. 'Nuf said.

Rob at Did I Miss Something? Rob writes 4 different blogs, and they are all good.
http://wwwdidimisssomething.blogspot.com/

Lastly, Lisa, the Work at Home Mom http://workathomemomrevolution.blogspot.com/
What a great site. She researches work at home opportunities so parents can stay at home and raise their children.

And finally, ending this jam-packed Monday edition--

Yesterday's "What is it?" No one guessed. I tried to find it in action, but I couldn't. But here's a similar model being used.

Sunday Morning Blues

I've been working so hard for youse this week. I even wrote a couple of posts that required me to write them in advance and pay attention to grammar and spelling.

You may have noticed posting quality was up a full 14% this week. Usually I just bang them out during Colbert, and post around midnight, but no, I worked on them. You received a full week's worth of carefully crafted, properly structured blog posts. You could have used them for a class in diagramming sentences, they were that well done.
Any typos were put there to test my readers. You all passed admirably. Well done, faithful readers.

I just wanted to catch you up on a couple things.

I promise not to be a long drawn out awards ceremony.

I recently received the Amyoops Award again

Photobucket

The award was started by Amy of http://www.amyoops.com/

This time the award came from The Lost News http://www.thelostnews.com/

This is a very well done blog, and very different from most comedy blogs. It's easier to ask you to check it out rather than try to explain it.

I also received it from my buddy Tommy of email rubbish at http://emailrubbish.blogspot.com/

This is a fairly new blog and Tommy posts some of the junk email that he gets. It is extremely funny stuff, but it is for over age 18.

You know there is a bunch of rules, but I'm going to break them.

I really appreciate the awards. Unfortunately, with these awards I'm required to pick 5 for each, and I have 2, so that's 10--oy. I usually dump them on present them to Jenn, but she has already mentioned that she would beat me senseless gently decline as she has received so many her mantle is overloaded and she spends most of her Saturdays dusting them. So, the problem becomes passing them on. Because I have, more or less, become a part of the humor blogger community, and we all try to support one another, we wind up just passing the awards to each other, and the awards seem to suffer from inbreeding.
Through awards, we are all nearly related to ourselves.

So, rather than pick any one, or five, or ten, I'm just going to list some great humor bloggers, and realize that any and all are deserving of an award.

Better still, here's a link to a new site that is almost ready to launch. http://humorbloggers.com

It's loaded with the best of the best. My buddy Chelle from Offended Blogger is the blog mistress in charge.

I'm a part of the group because I cried, bribed, blackmailed asked Chelle and she has a good heart. You will probably notice many of these blogs are already on my blogroll, because my buddies are the best.

Sometimes, I feel like

It's Casual Friday

So, kick back and be prepared to go on a little trip. It’s ok if you don’t have your toothbrush with you.

First, Mr. Rubba created a special umbrella hat for Sandy at http://www.witsbitch.blogspot.com/ She should have it on her blog today.

It is so worth the trip to see it, and it only cost her 50 million Zimbabwe dollars.

Next, take a quick trip to see HRH Momjeans at http://momjeansblogger.blogspot.com/

And you can see :

Photobucket

Along with her victory chant. It’s pretty funny.

It’s another awards show, so you can check out some really wonderful blogs.

We’ve had the prestigious Arte y Pico Award bestowed on this blog again.

Photobucket

The Rules thanks to www.arteypico.blogspot.com:
Rules:
1) You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award, creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribuites to the blogger community, no matter of language.
2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3) Each award-winning, has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog thathas given her or him the ward itself.
4) Award-winning and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y pico”blog , so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5) To show these rules.

I was selected by Bridget, the Get Smart Gal at http://www.thegetsmartblog.com/
She features electronics, business tips, finance, marketing, and some football.

I’d like to share this award with:
Bikram at http://n95pic.blogspot.com/ He shares photos of his homeland with very nice descriptions.

Eunice, another travel photographer at http://travelerfolio.com/
Beautiful photos from her extensive travels

Bill from http://www.househubbie.blogspot.com/ He shares recipes and restaurant reviews in New Jersey.

Time Thief from http://thistimethisspace.com/. It’s always a good read, that can have well presented political ideas one day, and life advice the next.

And lastly, my friend Kate at http://onlifeasiknowit.blogspot.com/
It’s totally her fault that She started me on the blogging path nearly 5 years ago. Her blog is a mixed bag. She makes fun of celebrities, weighs in with thoughtful political debate, or just lets us take a peek at her life. She also writes a recipe blog and a pet blog, creates hand made quilts, works full time and I get exhausted just thinking about all the stuff she does.

The blog also received another award, but I’ll share that next week. Youse have been through enough for today.

I’m still taking questions for an upcoming blog providing answers directly from the Man Handbook. Just leave your questions in the comments section.

Thank You, Come Again

I've been having some computer issues. Nothing serious, just something weird. I haven't been able to get into some websites.

And worse, my favorite sites are looking different.

The themes used to be a bit more "adult."

Photobucket

Anyway, I called AOL tech support and Apu "Dave" checked it out for me. After spending nearly an hour on the phone, "Dave" told me the problem was with the sites. I explained it had been going on for a few days, so I doubted it was the sites. Finally, it was determined that he had no idea, so I should call Cablevision tomorrow. As one of the last few people on earth still paying for AOL, you'd think they would want to keep me happy. No such luck.

I did get an award from one of the sites I can't access. I'm sure the site is fine, and you should be able to enjoy it, though. Heidi from http://healthnutwannabeemom.blogspot.com/

was kind enough to bestow on me the

Photobucket

Fortunately, it didn't come with a lot of rules, so I wanted to pass it along to a blog I really enjoy.

http://www.thisbrazenteacher.blogspot.com/

This is a relatively new blog, but it is very well written, and thought provoking.

And lastly (why do I have this 3 fetish) because I give and give, I have a great idea for my regular readers.

Photobucket

You'll note the picture of 50,000,000 Zimbabwe dollars. This bill currently is worth about 2 bucks American.

However, I can guarantee strippers, cocktail waitresses, and, for the ladies who read here, male exotic dancers, have no idea of that fact.

So, who do you think will get all the extras on your night out? The one passing out George Washingtons, or Zimbabwe millions?

I thought so.

You are welcome.

Taking Care of Business

Remember the official guard dog of the blog, my friend’s Yorkie Terrier, Pepper? He’s nearly 3 pounds of fighting fury

Photobucket

But it appears my buddy Rubba accidentally fed him some radioactive Puppy Chow (could happen--Stan Lee, stop reading now) and the results were dramatic.

Photobucket

Be careful out there.

Second point of bidness; don’t forget about the awesome Doodle Week Extravaganza. Check here http://crpitt.blogspot.com/ and here http://stickfiguregrrl.blogspot.com/ for even more awesome doodles, not like the crappy ones I drew.

Next on the agenda, be sure to check out John’s Joke of Politics blog.
http://thejokeofpolitics.blogspot.com/

No political blog could ever be 100% agenda free, but he does a very good job of presenting a factual look at the upcoming election. John uses video and news clippings to give a view of the candidates.

And for the last order of bizness

I received another award. This time it is from fellow humor blogger (is she a fellow blogger if she’s, you know, a she?)

Nevertheless, the award

Photobucket

comes with rules.

1) Pick 5 blogs that you would like to award this honor to.
2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3) Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4) Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Oops” blog, so everyone will know the origin of it.

So, I was awarded it from Amy at http://www.amyoops.com/

And I’d like to share it with some humor bloggers who I count on to make me laugh every day.

1. Jenn, the Thrift Shop Romantic from http://cabbages-n-kings.blogspot.com/
2. Don from It’s a Funny Thing http://humorium.blogspot.com/
3. Kathy from the Junk Drawer http://www.junkdrawerblog.com/
4. JD and Lucy from Say What http://hoeno.blogspot.com/

And in a surprise decision by the judges

5. Claire from A Little Piece of Me http://crpitt.blogspot.com/ This is a surprise because I don’t know if she considers her blog to be a humor one, but it is incredibly funny. Plus, she’s from England, so that would be considered a foreign language. Don’t believe me? Ask her the meaning of pants.

Now you need to do your part; visit them and spread the funny.

Extra Wordy Wednesday

I was going to write about the Great Naughty Bits Debacle today. This was my name for the time I was hospitalized and forced to wear a diaper for a couple of months.

Ok, I wasn’t forced to wear the diaper, I just kind of liked it. It was a good look for me.

But instead, I realized I have been remiss in some of my blogging duties. I received two Arte Y Pico Awards last week, and haven’t been able to complete my mission in accepting these prestigious awards. So, this will be an Extra Wordy Wednesday.

This gives me an opportunity to showcase many of the great blogs I read every day.
I was awarded these by Shadow Crystal http://internettreasuretrove.blogspot.com/
and by Presidential candidate Benny Greenberg at http://ya-ttitude.com/blog

Both of these blogs are wonderful , and I’m sure you will enjoy them as much as I do.

Now, on to my picks. By the way, this will be a long award ceremony, but I’m sure you will enjoy the wonderful blogs that I have selected.

These are in no particular order, and I read each one nearly every day.

The first award will go to Chelle at the Offended Blogger.
http://www.offendedblogger.com/
I can’t explain whether she offends or gets offended. I just know I’m one of her many fans.

Next, is the Downloadable Ryan Garns.

No blog entry ever made me laugh harder than If the Federalist Papers Had Been a Blog. http://www.ryangarns.com/archives/article_062908.php

I’ve recently started reading ChatBlanc at
http://www.witsbitch.blogspot.com/
It’s well written, and funny. Every day she shares her world with just enough snark to make me laugh.

I enjoy foreign language blogs, and one of these is Drowsey Monkey.
http://drowseymonkey.blogspot.com/
She has the most wonderful sense of self-deprecating humor. And penguins.
Yeah, I know Canuckian isn’t a different language. Humor my ignorance, eh.

Few blogs start my day like Amyoops.
http://www.amyoops.com/
She always has some funny themed pictures and a quick joke or two.

I read so many other great blogs. But, like all awards shows, my time is up. I’ll introduce you to them next time. I do read some serious blogs. Honest. And I even read some that are considered intellectual. But I need to laugh, and so many of my blogging buddies help fill that need. I thank them for this as they keep me sane.

Ok, what passes for sanity in my life, anyway.

Give these blogs a gander. I’m sure some will become favorites for you, too.

Awards--Now 100% Richard Simmons Free

Yesterday, I was awarded the prestigious arte y pico award by Jenn of Cabbages and Kings and the blog Thrift Shop Romantic http://cabbages-n-kings.blogspot.com
Photobucket
I would like to thank her for her generosity in sharing this award, and just so you know, this does come with a history and some rules. Clearly, this is nothing like the Trophy that accompanied the 1979 Men’s Sunday Church League Underhand 10 Foot Arc Championship Team. (Go First Church of the Good Death and Discount House of Worship Blue Devils!) By the way, we were 17-2. I pitched and won 16 of those games, and lead the team in beer consumed batting. Oh yeah, I used to be an athlete.

Back to the trophy. It was originally hand crafted by Gregorian monks in the 15th century, and has been passed down to the descendants of …no wait, that was from a movie…It was made by the monks, and it was stolen by marauders who put it in a cave defended by a killer rabbit. So, the monks used the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch

… wait, I think that was another movie.

I’ll just post the rules from the website http://arteypico.blogspot.com/ :

Rules:
1) You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award, creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogger community, no matter of language.
2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3) Each award-winning, has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4) Award-winning and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y pico”blog , so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5) To show these rules.
Simple enough. So, now I have the awesome responsibility of passing along this award. I read and enjoy around 50 blogs a day, so I recognize quality in blogging. Unfortunately, I suck at decision making. I’ll simply pick 5 of the blogs that are on my can’t miss, read every single day list.

First, I’m going to pick the Soccer Mom Files. http://momjeansblogger.blogspot.com/
I know that’s not what the link says, but everyone knows I struggle with technology, and I don’t quite have the ability to do the links right, but at least these are clickable, so keep yer pants on.
I picked this relatively new blog because it is well written and very funny. And she has little cyber fish named Paul, John, George, and Ringo who I feed every day by clicking.

Next, I’m going to pick Shadow Crystal’s blog. I’m keeping with my theme of choosing blogs with names different than the link.
http://internettreasuretrove.blogspot.com/
You’re just going to have to deal with that. Shadow is a college student who finds some of the best video’s and delivers some truly inspired rants in the Crotchety tradition. And she speaks Canadian, so I’m keeping with the spirit of the award by giving it to someone who speaks another language. I’m also building bridges between the USA and Canada. I feel really badly about giving Canada noogies the other day on Canada Day, so I‘m hoping to make up for that.

Third, to Mom’s Crazy Life. Anyone who has 6 kids and works as a nurse, and finds the time to blog about important things like the death of her toilet deserves something. http://www.momscrazylife.com/. Her blog is a good read. She may not be June Cleaver, but she rocks.

Fourth award goes to Gumby the Cat. The author is a science fan, and that by itself should be enough. But wait, there’s more: His blog is well-written and researched. I know, it’s not as impressive as near naked pictures of Richard Simmons, but it’s still pretty awesome.

The final choice is the toughest. I wish I had 10 more awards to give out, because I read that many really interesting blogs.
But, rulz is rulz.

My final choice is for the award is How is Bradley.
http://www.howisbradley.com/
This blog is written with a degree of honesty that is rarely seen when dealing with a subject as important as mental health. He takes everyone on his journey and manages to maintain a sense of humor in what can only be a very stressful time. He also is an artist, and turns out cartoons that sum up our health system in a manner that make one laugh and cry at the same time.
Let’s have a big round of applause for all the winners. Don’t forget to tip your waitresses, and drive home safely.
